Services are provided on a sliding scale basis. They also accept a number of insurance plans. Psychotherapy may be free of charge for individuals with low incomes and living with HIV or experiencing relationship violence.
The Youth Programming at Center on Halsted is opened Monday–Thursday from 4:30 PM – 6:30PM. On Fridays they have open gym: Basketball, Volleyball, and Dodgeball from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Youth intakes are available by appointment, generally between 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
The Youth Program creates a safe and confidential environment for young people ages 13–24 who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, who are questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity, or who are straight allies (LGBTQA). The program offers a nurturing and supportive environment, from cultural and event programming to case management and leadership development.
The staff at the Center on Halsted are committed to supporting LGBTQ youth and young adults in a holistic manner. Staff are experienced with backgrounds in social work, HIV/AIDS prevention, art therapy, youth leadership, education, group facilitation, and counseling; and are responsive to the goals and aspirations of our youth. Additionally, the staff are aware of the needs and concerns, including but not limited to coming out, identity management, sexual health education, stable housing, and employment.
